Instructor Sign-Up
Each year, thousands of instructors join the Emergency Care & Safety Institute
(ECSI) and embrace our mission of making life-saving training accessible and affordable
to as wide a population as possible. We're thrilled that you have decided to become
one of our newest members to embrace this mission.
Before you move on to complete the instructor application, you should know that
you'll need to associate yourself with one of our current Education Centers in order
to complete the process. If your training center or your employer is not already
approved as an ECSI Education Center, you or your employer will need to complete
the Education Center application first.
There are two ways to become an ECSI instructor:
If you already have adequate content knowledge in the course(s) that you would like
to teach (for example, first aid or CPR) and can also demonstrate adequate teaching
experience (for example, you are an instructor from another nationally recognized
training organization), you can ask to be grandfathered to receive instructor reciprocity.
If you meet these requirements, complete the
instructor application
now.
If you have little or no teaching experience but would like to learn how to train
others to perform life-saving skills, like basic life support and first aid, you
can participate in an ECSI Instructor Development Course (IDC). This course covers
topics such as teaching methodologies, complying with ECSI policies and procedures,
following course objectives, and conducting skills practice sessions. The IDC is
administered by authorized ECSI Instructor-Trainers.
If you have any questions about the instructor application process, or if you would
like help locating an authorized ECSI Instructor-Trainer in your area, please call
us at 800-716-7264 or e-mail our Membership Office.
